Challenge #70-"Tags"

Thanks to everyone  who entered my last challenge.  There were some wonderful entries.  Now for the current challenge.  It is "Tags".  This is usually a fun challenge for everyone and the Design Team is anxious to see all the tags you create.
Vicki
Here is my tag for this challenge.  I took a couple of Lunagirl images and combined them.  At the top is some twine and a chipboard flower.  The beautiful background paper is from SEI.

Hazel
For this tag I used one of the pictures from Lunagirl labels women called Anita, digitally blending this with a Dezinaworld music rose background. I printed this and mounted it on to a tag that I had lightly brushed with mustard seed and fired brick distress inks. Flowers and ribbons from stash.

Krisha
I chose this very cool, autumn looking frame for my rather LARGE tag!  I generated the frame 3 times, working with Print Shop.  Then added my letters before printing and cutting them out.  I hand shaded the letters for a little depth.  Then I got inky with the tag, stencils and gesso were used too.  When I added the frames I mounted them with pop dots.  I added some gold embellishments along the edges, and yarn for the tie.

Michele
Images from our challenge sponsor Lunagirl Moonbeams are so luscious I really enjoyed using this dreamy vintage lady for this tag.  I've also got a bit of postcard from a Lunagirl collage sheet on this creation as well along with designer paper, tissue tape and flower stickers.  This is an easy challenge to join since you have a lot of artistic freedom to make your tag.  So I hope you will play along.

Petra
Isn't she darling with all the flowers and wishes? This is one of the wonderful Lunagirl Moonbeam images. The white labels of the image are empty, I filled them with birthday wishes and layered the image on white dry-embossed and patterend paper. Embellishments are some machine stitching and an adorable little resin bird.

Barbara
Last minute on Friday before I left for the cottage I printed my images, who would have thought I would run out of colour ink in my printer.....not me. I picked one of the images that was blue tones and coloured it with my spica glitter pens. I cut it and the scalloped base with my small rectangles and the tag I used my Sizzix tag die with a piece of glitter patterned paper. a few pearls and piece of lace to finish it off.

It's Autumn!

Lunagirl Moonbeams' has announced their next challenge.  It is "Autumn / Thanksgiving"
For my first piece I decided to go with the Autumn theme with this beautiful image from Lunagirl.
I placed my image on  a double mat and then put in on a card which opens on the top half of the card.  The base card was embossed and then distressed to make the card old..  As an emlbellishment I used another Lunagirl image, the fall leaves.

Second Week of "Hats" Theme

There is one week left to enter my challenge "I Love Your Hat".  You can use any kind of hat you wish.  You may enter anything as long as a hat is included.  The Design Team is again working with the beautiful images of Rick StDennis as noted in their descriptions.
Vicki
I knew that minute I saw this image I wanted to do something for the fall season.  I colored t he fur coat in different shades of brown with my Copic markers.  To coincide with the sentiment I attached a number of leaves I had punched in various colors of cardstock.

Hazel
I've used the 1935 hat digi stamp kindly supplied by Rick Stdennis, our sponsor, coloured with spectrum noirs, die cut and edged with a purple spectrum. I used a ready decorated shaped card blank on to which I put a horizontal strip of a print that was made with my gelli plate, a stencil and acrylic paint.  Ribbon, flowers and lace/ribbon from stash

Barbara.
This week I used the same image from Rick St dennis but made it smaller, I wanted the feel of a cameo in a vintage frame. The frame is a Spellbinders die called Opulent Ovals and I used a glitter paper I bought at the Dollar Tree, it is a fine glitter but on an almost plastic like backing. I added some swirls from a Tim Holtz flourish die and a few pearls.
Michele
If you've got a fancy hat and you've also got a friend then take a photo together in your fancy hats! This vintage image from Twisted Papers is a hoot and I couldn't resist using it for my week two inspiration piece for this challenge.  I added a few simple embellishments but really the photo speaks for itself!  I hope you will join this fun challenge.
Krisha
Using the same image as last week I made a wall hanging, by printing my digi from Rick St. Dennis, larger than normal.  I used pencil and markers to color her, then she was mounted to a mixed media hardboard.  The words, other than Divas, are PC generated.

Petra
May I introduce you to Daisy Kate Hatter? Isn't her hat quite something? I layered the image on lots of retro-looking patterend papers and added some twine, blong and button for embellishment.
What a fun image! I coloured her in shades of pink, layered her on some more pinks! I played with foam stamps and Distress ink in Victorian Velvet to create a background for the image. A doily and some pearls finishes of my card. Put on your hat and join the challenge!

Here is a great gift idea, easy and fun to make. I used 2 bottles of bath salt, a piece of soap, a scented candle and a box.   Colouring the hair is my fav part to colour on these ladies, specially the red hair, because I think blond is more difficult to colour. The part I have the most trouble with is the make up of the ladies.

When they are all coloured, I cut them out and glued them to the bottles, the candle, the tag and the box. I added some lace to the bottles and the tag.

I hope you have enjoyed the digital images of Rick St. Dennis.  If you have, then I am sure you will want to take advantage of the sale he is having on the 5 vintage ladies with hats we have shown on this and on the challenge announcement post.  The sale is here:  http://sparkleandglitterwithrick.blogspot.nl/2013/04/mothers-day-gift-idea.html  A picture of the five that are on sale is below:

One Day Left

You have one day left to join the Lunagirl Moonbeams in the "Vintage Belly Dancer" challenge.  Below is my final piece of inspiration for this challenge.  I used a split card and placed my belly dancer on the designer paper.  It is accented with a trim of woven threads and pearls.  Also, as a final touch I used a grouping of three flowers with stones as the center.

Challenge #69 - "I Love Your Hat"

I was a little disappoint that there were so few entries this past week.  I hope you will like this one better.  The challenge is "I Love Your Hat".  What can you make?  Well, anything as long as there is some type of hat in your creation.  It can be a fancy hat, a baseball cap, and even a football helmet.  Got the idea?  So easy!   You have two weeks to join the Design Team in a "hat" parade.
Vicki
My card uses one of Rick St  Dennis' images (1935).  Isn't she pretty with her lovely hat of red and black veil.  I colored her with Copics.   I used a split background of polka dotsk with a ribbon divider and placed the image on a Stampin' Up die and then placed that die on a Cherry Lynn Designs die.  A small sentiment is in the corner.
Michele
I enjoyed coloring this Rick St. dennis stamp with colored pencils.  With her very fancy hat she reminded me of a good church lady and this inspired me to use the "Amazing Grace" stamp from Silver Crow Creations.  I thought the gorgeous flower and butterfly embellishments were very appropriate to this piece.  In the US you don't often see women wearing elaborate hats though in times long ago they certainly did.  It is nice to play with an image of a well-dressed lady like this one.

Krisha
Here is my DT card for this week.
I LOVE her and that hat is a riot, does she not belong in the Red Hat Society?  LOL
I printed her and the sentiment right onto the card base then colored her with pencil and OMS.  All the jewels and her coat buttons have Glossy Accents for some dimension and glossiness.
The inside reads: "But I do think it is time to dust off that old red hat and wear it!    Happy Birthday"

Hazel
I've used the 1935 hat digi stamp kindly supplied by Rick Stdennis, our sponsor, coloured with spectrum noirs. I die cut around the image and distressed with peacock feathers ink and embossed a couple of die cuts to mat behind. Papers are Basic Grey majorlaine, again brushed with peacock feathers distress ink. Various other elements from stash including the lace that was coloured with the peacock feathers to match.

Barbara
The digital image is from Rick St dennis and I printed a larger image to use. I am very fond of Monochromatic cards and equally love PURPLE of any shade. the die cut is a Nellie Snellen. I love using the die cut as a frame then use the cut out piece on the inside with a sentiment on it.
Petra
What a stylish Lady! I absolutely adore her outfit - especially her hat a wonderful digital image from our sponsor Rick St Dennis. I layered the image which is coloured with Copics and colouring pencils on patterend papers and added lots of sparkle and embellishments and a stamped sentiment to the card.

Special Guest Designer
Marilyn Girling

My inspiration for this project were the sparkling hat pins nestled in feathers, velvet ribbons and lace bows of turn of the century hats. The theme was beautifully illustrated with two Rick St. Dennis digital stamps; 1906 Hat and 1929 Hat. Both images were colored with Prismacolor colored pencils. The pins were made by threading beads onto hat pin blanks.  The box was covered with paper from BoBunny which provided the inspiration for the colors used in the project.

I am so proud to have Rick St. Dennis as my sponsor for this challenge.  Oh my, he has such wonderful images to color.  Not only does he have the beautiful women shown above, but he also has a great array of images for any occasion.  Please click on the banner above and visit his site.

"Be Inspired"-Week 2

I really was pleased to see all the entries for the past challenge.  There were so many good projects etc.  I am glad I use the random generator as it would have been hard to pick a winner.  Thanks so much to everyone who entered.  BTW sometimes I am a little late in posting the winner as I usually wait until I hear back so I can get the winner's full name.  Remember, I notify you if you are a winner.  If you have your email posted on your blog, I use that.  If not, I notify you through the comment section.  If you take time to enter, my challenges, I feel letting you know is the least thing I can do so you don't have to continuously come back to see if you are a winner.

Here is the picture we are using for inspiration for the current challenge.  Come and join in on the fun.
bakery
Now let's see how  the Design Team was inspired.

Here is a Gelli print that I made patterning it somewhat to the background in the inspirational picture.  My pattern is a little more subtle than the one in the picture.

Then I took the cardstock I had painted and cut it to fit my card.  This is how it ended.
 Vicki
This card is serving a dual purpose.  It is also an inspirational piece for Lunagirl Moonbeams who is having the theme "Gypsy"

Krisha
This week I chose the cherries on top of the cake for my inspiration.  I used a stamp from Stampa Rosa of a single cherry.  Using red ink I stamped the card base at random, then with black ink I stamped the image three times on red cs, and added Glossy Accents to just the cherry and not he stem.  Once they were dry I trimmed them and added to the card.
The sentiment is PC generated and is from the game of Jacks. (This is an OLD game with two or more players and no electronic device was used ...LOL)
Barbara
Michele
I made another tag inspired by the cake picture.  This time my imagination took me to a garden fairy tea party. I used vintage fairy images,a vintage teacup image and various papers to complete my tag.  This is a more abstract challenge than usual -- but also fun.  I hope you will play along.
Hazel
I was inspired to use cherries, cakes and an embossed diamond panel using an embossalicious folder with my eBosser. The plaid background paper mounted on to a red card blank was a magazine freebie. The strip of cherries mounted between strips of gingham ribbon was printed from a digital image from The Crafty Pad, which I coloured with spectrum noirs. The circles of cupcakes were from a Kanban kit. They are glittered around the edge.

Lunagirl's Challenge

You  have one more day to enter the challenge at Lunagirl.  The Lunagirl Moonbeams have posted a number of cards to give you inspiration.  Here is one final card I made for the challenge.  I  have done something a little different with the image this time.  I made the flowers three dimensional by printing out three copies of the image and placing pieces of the flowers on top of each other with pop ups.  The yellow ones have more layers than the pink so they would be in the foreground.   It is a little difficult to see, but it really gave the card depth.

Don't forget to hurry and enter the challenge!

Gelli Walks the Runway

Here is another favorite Gelli print.  (I am getting too many favorites!)  In the scan you really can't see the lines of pink very well.  After I finished this print, I was looking through a magazine in the doctor's office and spotted this gal.  I asked the receptionist if I could have that page and she told me to take the whole magazine.  So you will see some more runway models.  Hopefully I can make Gelli prints to match like this just happened to be.  This match up was a great find.  The picture was from the magazine ELLE.

Challenege #68 - "Be Inspired"

This challenge is a little different.  Below is a picture from Pinterest.  Let it inspire you.  Just use something that this picture inspires you to do.
bakery
Below are some examples that the Design Team created using the picture above to inspire.
Vicki
This card made a play on the circles on the image in the inspirational picture.  Also I used cardstock which was in my stash that was as close to the colors as possible .  The picture is elegant so I added a trim of lace and pearls.  The top doily is from Stampin' Up and the larger one is a Cheery Lynn Design die which my sponsor for this challenge, Classy Cards and Such carries.

Michele

The cake picture inspired me to think of a birthday party and so I decided to make a bookmark/tag featuring a vintage image of a child all dressed up for a party.  I picked up the pinks and shapes from the picture and included those elements in the designer papers I chose to frame this sweet little girl.  I also used tissue tape, vintage lace and other sweet goodies for my inspiration piece.
Petra
Vicki's image reminds me so much of lazy Sunday afternoons with some wonderful tea and cake. I could not resist to give this little birdie a chance to take part in the tea party. It is a digital collage using various image elements.

Krisha
The first thing I saw in the inspiration photo was the diamond background, and the colors.
I chose a diamond stencil and used pink embossing ink and powder for the background, then aged it with distressing ink.  The image is from Frantic Stamper that I have had for ions!  She was colored with pencil, then fussy cut. The sentiment is from Rogue Redhead Designs stamped with StazOn Timber ink.  I added my favorite brown ribbon and a hand made paper flower with a pearl center before adding it all to a cream card base.

Hazel
I was inspired by the cherries. The stamp is G-1286 by PSX, inked with memento tuxedo black and coloured with spectrum noirs. The background card and the strips of cherries are from Kanban. I used a Martha Stewart punch on some offcuts of red card and added a Craftworks cards sentiment circle. Everything was mounted on to a cream card blank and the front was cut away to reveal the red punched edge underneath.
Barb
I picked out the pinks that are in the inspiration picture and chose an image from Flourishes to use. I love the beauty of flowers and they are always an inspiration.

I am so pleased to have Classy Cards and Such as my sponsor for this challenge.  Beverly, the owner of this online store carries almost anything a crafter could use.  She carries stamps, dies, embellishments and bling.  Take a peek at her site and see if she has something you could use.  Also, she is always having something on sale.
