You Can Enter Both

I am having  the challenge "My Kind of Gal" and Lunagirl Moonbeams is having the challenge "Divas".  If you have a Diva-looking image you can enter both challenges.  My card is an inspirational  piece for both challenges.  The lady in  purple is one of the beautiful images from Lunagirl.  In the background is a piece of designer paper of flowers and trees.  I put the stronger purple mat behind the image to make her pop and to keep her from getting lost on the background.  Some black swirls around the flower and a couple of stones give the card a shot of bling.

If you plan to enter the Lunagirl challenge, you must hurry as there are only 3 days left.

Challelnge #61

The theme for this challenge is "My Kind of Gal"  I hope you will find this a fun challenge.  The name pretty much speaks for itself.  You don't have to make a card.  It can be something other than a card as long as you follow the theme.

You have two weeks to join the challenge, so let the Design Team see what you can create.  Here are some ideas from the Design Team.
Vicki
I was in the mood to make a tag.  So I used Gingerloft's Beauty image.  It was easy to make, but I did a little recycling.  I was at a wedding this past weekend and my corsage had a backing of burlap.  Since the roses were just about dead, I cut some of the burlap from behind the corsage and used it on my tag.  I though it gave a little different look and I like the way it turned out.  I left the writing that on was the image white in order to emphasize the face.  I think that made the face "pop" on the tag.

Also, would you believe that the sentiment was on a favor at the wedding.  I just took it off the little box it was on and added to my tag.

I've decided to colour the Geisha with girl in some different colours than expected. The green is a symbol of freshness & youthfulness as well as eternal life. Yellow is a sacred colour in the Far East. It also has the meaning of courage, beauty & refinement as well as aristocracy & cheerfulness. (Source Note: this may differ from other sources). A Great Impressions stamp is used for the sentiment on a yellow panel. The gold panel and bottle green card compliments the colours used.

Jenn used Cowboy Boot from Gingerloft to make this little ATC. The boot is colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits, and the sentiment is from Scrapalicious Times Sentiments.  I used an ATC-sized piece of cardboard and covered it with this pretty DP from Stampin' Up! as my base, then inked the edges.
 Barbara
I picked this cute little  butterfly gal from Stitchy Bear/Gingerloft. What is more girlie than PINK. She was coloured with pencil crayons and oms mounted on a pink die cut called Fleur dis lis. The background is a dot background from Hero Arts, sad to say two years old and never been inked until today, it was inked with Brilliance coral and embossed with silver pearl embossing powder from Ranger again a year old and never been used. Wow lots of firsts. I added the pink rhinestones and the stickles to the wings.
Michele
This darling cowboy boot digi from Stitchy Bear Gingerloft makes me think of the kind of gal who likes kicking around at rodeos but also loves dolling up and smelling the flowers.  This card is a tribute to her, with brightly colored flowers, ribbon and bold, fun patterns.

I made  a  4 x 4 inch fat page, using a beautiful image provided by our sponsor. I used mesh on top of the  floral base layer, using water colours for the colouring of the image
 Petra
A wonderful and so feminine image from our sponsor Stitchy Bear Gingerloft. I just love all the flowers and butterflies. I layered and printed the image on digital paper. To give it a bit more depth I created a lot of layers by cutting the flowers in the hair and butterflies separately. The image is coloured withn copics. Some blings are the finishing touches.

Krisha
I chose to do a simple French post card using the Gingerloft digi Umbrella Girl.  I used colored pencil for the image and the background.  The other stamped image and sentiments are from Recolectionns
I am so excited to have Gingerloft Digitals as my sponsor this week.  Please make a visit to their site and see if there is something there you can use.  Gingerloft has a great of images in numerous categories.

Lunagirl's New Challenge

Lunagirl Moonbeans  is beginning a new challenge starting today, "Diva".   Below  is my inspirational card..
I had been hoarding this designer paper for a while so I decided to pull it out and use it.  I think it is perfect for my Lunagirl image.  In the corner I have a metal scroll piece and some Petaloo flowers.  The sentiment was a commercial sticker?d  I love the way the colors came  together.

Drop  by and check out the challenge and enter.

Art Journal Page

Here is another page made with my Gelli Plate. This page has a wild combination of colors.  Working with a Gelli Plate is so much fun and so relaxing.  You can't do anything wrong; it is just some pages are more appealing to the eye than others.  I am not sure how I want to use this one yet.

Challenge Reminder

For a short cut to my current challenge, go to the first entry on my sidebar.  This is the quickest way to get there without going through my posts.  The Design Team has a few more pieces of  inspiration to remind you that the challenge is "It's Natural"  The entries can be anything that is natural or that deals with nature.  It can be fruits, animals, flowers or trees etc.
Michele
For my week two DT piece I decided to go with a different aspect of nature -- fairyland!  I used colored pencils on three different Stitchy Bear digis -- a little fairy girl, a butterfly and a flower set (which I cut and separated).  The ATC base is colored wth distress inks and then I added some designer paper and a nature sticker to complete the scene.  Have fun with this challenge!
Barbara
I used another Stitchy Bear image, I love Asian themed cards. I used TH core'dinations cardstock and embossed it with the bamboo embossing folder from cuttlebug and sanded it. I cut the oval in it and placed the image under the opening. cut the black frame to accent the image. I added the gold braid to finish it off.

Barbara
I chose Daisies in a frame from Floppy Latte for my image, it was coloured with prisma colour pencils and odourless mineral spirits. I loved this image when I saw it as it is so versatile, birthday, get well and thinking of you.  This winter has been very long and now we have good weather I had to get out the daffodil delight, both card stock and ribbon in the same colour. The embossing folder has birds and leaves on it and makes me think spring.
Krisha
It's Spring and the flowers are blooming! Our sponsor Stitchy Bear Outlet had these flowers that I just couldn't resist.  I stamped a script over the image, fussy cut and then colored it brightly with markers, I mounted it on an embossed dot background, then red cs and then onto the card.  I added the red and white dot ribbon in a wavy pattern, A quick and simple card.

Yvonne
I used a computer generated craft program to frame this lovely image supplied by our sponsor.
Sharon
I've used one of the sponsors "nature" images top create this card with butterfly embossed background. Image is coloured with Copic Markers and mounted on the front of the base card
Rene
I've used the same image Back Yard. My card is white this time and I've used a lilac layer and added 3 sparkling white rhinestones and some Diamond Stickles. The card looks totally different, don't you agree? Hope to see more 'natural' cards this week!

Just a Little Moo

Here is a little Moo  I made for Moo Mania and Just Some Lines' challenges.  Moo Mania is having "Insects" as the theme this week and Just Some Lines is having "Anything Goes".  My little butterfly is from Just Some Lines. This tiny piece could also be used as a piece for my challenge "It's Natural".
If you have a chance enter any or all of the above challenges.  I used a piece of the Spark background mentioned in the previous post,

SPARK Tag

Once a month Carolyn Dube sends out a piece of SPARK (art background she created) to use any way we wish.  This is the one sentt out for May.  Isn't it inspiring?
I took a small piece of it and made a tag using an image from Lungagirl Moonbeans.
BTW Karen at Lunagirl Moonbeans is having a challenge, her first, with the theme "Birds".  It ends soon, but you still have time to enter and she is giving away a great prize.

Challenge #60- "It's Natural"

The theme for this challenge is "It's Natural".  This is a really easy challenge.  You can make anything that deals with nature  in anyway i.e. flowers, animals clouds, grass. Also, you can post emotions too-anger, love, and fear.  These emotions are natural. As you can see, you have a wide range of things you can post about.
Vicki
I love working with mainly black and white.  This little image from Sticky Bear Digital Outlet looks just like my dog Hershey.  I used a base black card with a black and white mat under the image.  In the ribbon buckle is a piece of silver ribbon.  It runs up the left side and a small piece is placed under the image for balance.

Michele
This sweet scene from Stitchy Bear seemed so peaceful to me that I wanted to use my Chinese calligraphy  "peace" stamp and this nice designer paper with trees to accent the main image.  This scene makes me want to sit, relax and reflect!  I hope the nature challenge makes you feel peaceful too.  Please join us!
Barbara
I used an image from Stitchy bear, coloured with prisma colour pencils and oms then cut the image out so the flowers flowed off the edge. I used early expresso for the layer under the image, I had to try my new butterfly embossing folder for the background. What is more natural than the blue of the sky and the brown of the earth.

Krisha
I chose the "Baby Bug" digi from the Stitchy Bear Outlet for this sparkling card.  Image was colored with Prisma colored pencils then rhinestones added to the spots on the wings and black stones forthe tip of her antani.  I chose to mask the image and stencil a floral background instead of trimming her out.  I took Gelatos to the front of the card and then stamped tiny flowers all over.  I mounted the image on black cs then onto the card.  Paper grunge flowers, brushed with black acrylic paint finished it off nicely.  Thank you to the Stitchy Bear Outlet for being our sponsor this week.

Rene
My choice of image, generously supplied by our sponsor  Stitchy Bear - Berry Bear is Backyard, a fabulous digital image with so many possibilities. I decided to use it as is in black and white. I layered it on mirror board and then onto a black card. 3 punched leaves were added as well as some Crystal Stickles to the image. The sentiment was handwritten in silver and overwritten with my Gelly roll. Hope to see many nature inspired creations!
I have used this cute fairy image from our sponsor to  decorate  a  gift voucher purse.

Thanks to Stitchy Bear Digi Outlet for sponsoring my challenge for the next two weeks.  Stitchy Bear is the place to go for digitals as they are an outlet for loads of digital stamps by numerous companies.  I am sure you can find that perfect image there.

JSL's Mother Day Challenge

Just Some Lines is now having a challenge with the theme "Mother's Day"  Let's see your best Mother's Day cards.  This card has a childish feel to it, a  perfect for Mother's Day.  Come over to the Just Some Lines'  site and get into the fun.

Drunken Stampers' New Challenge

Drunken Stampers has a new challenge.  It is Porky's or Farm Animals.  If you have been checking their site out, you will notice that all the themes are connected to a movie.  For my inspiration, I used an animal that can be found on the farm.   It isn't the one you consider a farm animal, but I am sure there is one on every farm.  It  is the cat.  This isn't any cat,; mine is a cool cat that is always innocent.  The stamp is one by Comotion Rubber Stamps.  I found him at a flea market.
Go to Drunken Stampers and see all the inspirational art.  Enter and be part of the fun.

New Challenge Blog

There is a new challenge blog on the net!  It is Lunagirl Moonbeans.  Just click on the name in the previous sentence or the logo below and it will direct you to the site.  The challenge is a great one.  It is "Birds".  You have until Mary 20 to enter.
I am so proud to be a member of their first-ever Design Team.  Here are two creations I made for the challenge.
This card has an image of a bird with  tnfo about it.   The base card is brown and the  background mat to the image is handmade paper that someone gave me   It is very thick paper.  I took some distress ink called "Peeled Paint" and highlighted the folds and ridges of the paper.   In the corner is a piece of printed cardstock giving the definition of Celebration.  On the other side is a multi-layer flower made from flowers from Petaloo.  In the center I put a green stone to give the card a little bling.

This bird is from one of the free sheets on the sidebar of Lunagirl Moonbeam blog   The bookmark was very easy to make.  I printed a small copy of the image, cut out the bookmark with a die and then stamped a sentiment from Our Daily Bread Designs.  A little piece of ribbon and I was finished.

Challenge Reminder - Rain and Flowers

This is a reminder for you to join my challenge "April Showers Bring May Fleowers".  I have quite a few entries so far but, there is time for more, so join in.  The winner will be picked by random generator and announced on Tuesday after the challenge ends.  The Design Team would love to see what you have created.

In the meantime here are some more pieces of inspiration from the DT.
Vicki
My card is very clean and simple.  I love Floppy Latte's flowers in a circle and I think they are perfect for this get well card.  The sentiment is by Our Daily Bread Designs.
Petra
May has come and the flowers look ever so lovely. For the second week of the challenge I used a little vintage image which I thought is just perfect for the theme. I layered it on coloured and patterend cardstock and embellished it with flowers, ribbon, lace and twine and a chipboard sentiment.

Michele
For my week two creation I decided to use one of the beautiful silhouette digital images from Floppy Latte.  This lady sports spring flowers in her hat and I added just a touch of color on those flowers with colored pencils.  I added to the flower motif with flowered origami paper, paper flowers and a shiny flower sticker.  The dream stamp is from Inkadinakado.
The Daisy panel is a digi  image from our sponsor. The flower corners are stamped images, fussy cut , then shaped to add dimension.
Sharon
For this weeks post I have made my "May" Calendar/Journal Pages using images from the May new releases by Gecko Galz. I painted the background  using a baby wipe to "swoosh" the paint over the pages. It took a while to cut out all the flowers for each day of the month!!!

 Rene
My Darling Daisies has brown & deep wine centers fading into white or pale yellow. The pale green of the leaves are echoed in the green card. Rhinestones add some bling to the card. We hope to see some more flowers and showers this week!
 Barbara
I chose Daisies in a frame from Floppy Latte for my image, it was coloured with prisma colour pencils and odourless mineral spirits. I loved this image when I saw it as it is so versatile, birthday, get well and thinking of you  The winter has been very long and now we have good weather I had to get out the daffodil delight, both card stock and ribbon in the same colour. The embossing folder has birds and leaves on it and makes me think spring.

Just Some Lines' Challenge

Just Some Lines now has a new challenge theme, "Mother's Day".  I created this card using another part of the art journal page shown in the previous post.  At first I wasn't sure I really liked my art page, but after cutting it into pieces I am really pleased.  I love it as a background on this card.  The green  is just a piece of cardstock I put behind the card so you can see the base card.

The background is watercolor paper so it is a little on the heavy side, but I don't think it is too heavy too use.  The image is Just Some Lines' Love Roses.  They are colored with Copic markers.  In the corner I put the word "Love" with the letters at a slight angle.

Don't forget to come over to Just Some Lines and enter your Mother's Day project.

I Am So Excited!

I am so excited to be on Lunagirl's first Design Team.  Lunagirl Vintage Images are wonderfully unique and I love working with them.  Karen, the owner of Lunagirl has a blog called Lunagirl Moonbeams.  The blog is for lovers of vintage Edwardian Victorian Retro Antique stuff.

The first projects of the Design Team is "Birds".  She has loads of bird images to choose from and below are the projects I created.
This is the wall hanging I made with three of the images.  I used a canvass board for my base and put  as the background some sheet music which I distressed by applying a watered-down coat of yellow acrylic paint.

Next I took a piece of my art journal page which I had made with a Gelli Plate.  I wasn't sure how to use my paper at first.  I finally decided to make slide mounts with it.  Inside the three mounts I placed images of 3 Lunagirl birds.

I think the colors of the slide mounts really bring out the coloring of the images.

I finished off the wall hanging with an array of flowers at the bottom in the same color scheme as the slide mounts and birds.  Completing the wall hanging is some lace I had in my stash.

Below is a card I made using another Lunagirl image.  This bird is surrounded by a Cherry Lynn die.  Flowers are from Petaloo and above them is the sentiment "True Bliss" as an additional embellishment.

I do hope you will drop over for a visit as there are lots of great things planned for the blog.
