Welcome Newest DT Member

I am pleased to announce the newest member of my Design Team.  She is Rene Van Wyke.  Below is a very short bio from Rene.
Rene
I’m an artist and  crafter living in the beautiful city of Cape Town, Sout Africa. I love playing with all my stuff: paper, glues, glitter, fabric…but my first love is reading.

Making cards and ATC’s is something I’ve always loved doing. My style is more or less CAS (pun intended) and if you visit my blog, you can see some of the things I do & make. Hope you’ll visit and have a look around.
------

Rene's blog is Life in the Craft Lane. and you will see some of her work beginning this coming Monday as we begin the second week of "Numbers" challenge. Let's give her a warm welcome.

Going Patriotic

I made a number of cards recently that were patriotic.  Here is one of them using an image from Just Some Lines. The image is actually made up of two digitals from JSL.  The digitals are Ester waving a flag and a fence.  I  printed the fence on a white oval that would fit inside the diecut.  Next I cut out the girl and placed her on the fence.  Coloring was done with Copic markers.  Then I placed the oval inside the diecut which is  a Cheery Lynn die carried by Classy Cards and Such.    The background is made from two pieces of patriotic-looking designer paper.  The greeting is by Stampin' Up.

The second card is very simple with no image, just paper and three shinny stars.  I separated the two pieces of paper with a trim also cut from a Cheery Lynn die.

Challenge #46 - "Numbers"

Oh so many entries for the past challenge "In the Garden"!   I am really pleased there was so many entries, but I am sorry that I wasn't able to make a comment on each one.  However I did look at each one.  I was out of town and had to use my iphone / ipad and it took so long to go back and forth to the various entries and comment blocks.

Now for the current challenge....Challenge #46 "Numbers"  You may enter anything you like as long as it has numbers on it.  Here are some creations by the Design Team to get you inspired.
Vicki
Those of you in the United States can relate to my card --  The day of "Numbers" , April 15.  This image from Dilly Beans looks just like my husband after he has completed the form. The only thing on his mind are numbers and did he add and subtract correctly.   The sentiment which says "You just don't even know what kind of day I've had!" is also from Dilly Beans.   All the numbers were done with Fiskars clear stamps.  Martin, which is the name of Dilly Beans' image, was colored with Copic markers.

Sharon
I've used this gorgeous Dilly Monster image to make my "ONE" Eyed Flying Purple People Eater for this new "Numbers" Challenge. Dilly Beans images are great quirky designs to work with so I had a lot of fun putting this creation together!
Michele
This darling dunce girl digi by Dilly Beans has math homework to do but instead she's eating candy! I colored her with pencils and collaged a background of math flashcards from images I found on the web. She'll never master these numbers unless she pays attention to her lessons soon... Hope you'll have fun with this challenge!
Petra
What would be a birthday without some treats to sweeten to additional year (lol). I created the background with Tim Holtz stamps, inks and heat-embossing. I layered it on Kraft and black card. The sweet birthday girl from our sponsor Dill Beans is cut out and coloured with Copics and Sharpies. The sentiment is a stamp from Sugar&Spice. I finished the card with a big paper flower.

\Valerie
For my DT piece for this challenge I have used *Worried Skellie* from Dilly Beans, who is sponsoring the challenge. I have decided that he is worried about going to school. I have used a mini-file-folder, printed with numbers, and added Skellie, printed onto pale yellow card. Inside he appears again, surrounded by numbers.

For my project, I decided to make a tag for my sister's upcoming 40th birthday!  I used "flower girl" from Dilly Beans, colored with Prismacolor pencils & mineral spirits and SU! markers.  Numbers are chipboard stickers that I had in my stash.  I decorated the background of my tag using stencils, ink on a sponge, and Gold Glow Smooch Spritz.  Ribbon is from SU!
                                                                    *************

I am so excited to have Dilly Beans Digi Stamps as my sponsor for this challenge.  Megan has offered to give the winner of the challenge 3 of her wonderful images.  I really like her stamps as they all are so expressive.  Click on the link above and check out her store.  I don't think you will find anything like them elsewhere on the net.

A Second Week of "In the Garden"

We are hosting a second week of "In the Garden" challenge.  You can use either the garden itself or the results of gardening like flowers and vegetables or fruits.  We have had a very good response to this challenge, but we still have a week to check out your entries, so try to show us your "green thumb" entries.  As usual the winner will be chosen by random generator and I will notify the winner on Tuesday following the end of the challenge.
Vicki
I really do not know how to use watercolors, but I thought I would try my hand on this image from Digi Darla, my sponsor for this challenge.  The background is an assortment of various designer papers and cardstock.
Michele
This sweet little girl by Digi Darla reminded me of a photo of my husband's daughter when she was a little one. She had those blonde pigtails and the same sweet love of nature. So it was perfect for a Father's Day card for my DH. I colored her with pencils and layered her with designer card stock and other goodies. One last week to explore the garden in your art! I look forward to seeing what you make.

Sharon
My card for this week started out as an ATC which I then made into this card. The little girl image is from Heather Ellis & she is perfect for this challenge sitting in her garden with a little bird on her finger!
Jenn
Jenn made an altered coaster using one of Digi Darla's pretty images. The sentiment is a rub-on sentiment from Stampin' Up! The coaster has been painted with Gesso and then with acrylic paint.

Petra
It is so wonderful to be able and go in the garden, it is brimming with flowers and fruits at the moment. This little girl also enjoys the flowers and lottle butterfly. This is one of Digi Darla's very sweet digital stamps which I coloured with Copics and layered it on one recycled tag. The background worked so well.
Valerie

This is my tag for week 2 of the *In the Garden* Challenge. It has been made from distressed and embossed cardboard. The image is from Graphics 45, mounted on a scrap of card, stamped with various motives in forest moss. I added 2 rub on roses and a feather.  Have a good week you all! Valerie

Roses From My Garden

Since my current challenge is dealing with a garden, I decided to make an extra flower card.  Also,Cheery Lynn Designs is having a challenge with the theme Roses so this card is for it as well. Also, this card is for ClassyCards and Such who is having a challenge with the theme Glitter ( CNS10).  I used the French Lattice (Small) which is carried on both of these site.  I took two sizes of a Spellbinders label and cut out a frame and then adhered it to the lattice die and trim the extra off.  This made a insert for the label which I think is very effective.  Cheery Lynn dies are wonderful and everytime I look at them I see another I wish I had.  Beverly at Classy Cards and Such carries just about all the dies and she has such a quick delivery of your order, that you won't believe.

The Cheery Lynn challenge has roses as the theme; therefore I used a large rose with a number of buds in the corner.  Classy Cards has glitter as their theme this time, thus the glitter on the wings of the little pixie.

The cute little pixie?  Well, she is a wonderful image from Just Some Lines.

Do you need something to drool over?  Well, just go to the three sites mentioned above.

Challenge #45 -"In the Garden"

"In the Garden" .is my theme for the next couple of weeks.  The Design Team has given you a couple of pieces as inspiration.  Now it is your turn.
Vicki
I used one of Digi Darla's garden images.  She has quite a few of them available on her site.  I placed the image, colored with Copic markers, on a number of green-blue pieces of designer paper.  I like mixing my background papers and it gives me a chance to use up some of my scraps.  The sentiment was computer generated.
I colored my sweet image with a combination of Copics, Prismacolor pencils, and mineral spirits. DP is from My Mind's Eye and sentiment is a sticker from SRM Stickers. I added a little butterfly from Oriental Trading Company.

Sharon
I've used a part of a cute Digi Darla image for my little square card along with some patterned papers from Basic Grey. The flower has been die cut from the same pad of papers along with the leaves and a little gem added to the centre. Image is coloured with Copic Markers.
Tricia
I colored the butterfly with copics. The small butterflies are done with the splash and stick technique. I used a technique called Antique Glimmers on the background. I just love seeing butterfly's in the garden and this one from Digi Darla is one of my favorites.

Valerie
Hi you all. Today's theme is *in the garden* and Digi Darla is sponsoring us. I have made an aperture card. The little lady on the front is from Free Vintage Digis. Behi8nd the aperture I have used a stamp from LaBlanche, stamped with archival black and coloured with water-colour pencils. The bird is also a free vintage image. The dragonfly is from Diane, who kindly sent me some of her wonderful makes!
Thanks for looking, and have a good week!

Digi Darla

Square Card

It is not very often that I make a square card, but the Naautical Wheeler Doily die that I used on the front is slightly larger than a regular 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 card so a 6 inch square gate card is in order.  I used a base of light yellow and accented with orange and aqua.  My aqua cardstock was not a bright aqua so it appears as blue here.  I made a gate card and the flap that opens the card was made with orange and aqua mat behind the Cheery Lynn diecut in orange,  I used only the outter ring and placed my sentiment in the middle.
Inside the card I used an aqua and an orange Spellbinders Scallop Oval with the sentiment on it and in the corner I placed the Victorian Romance Flourish.   Isn't this beautiful?  On each of the side flaps is a strip of Anatasia Lace border,  All dies are Cheery Lynn I bought from Classy Cards and Such,.    They carry all the Cheery Lynn dies.    All sentiments are from Stampin' Up.  The color scheme of yellow,  orange and aqua were used for the color challenge at Ckassy Cards and Such.  All the dies make a very elegant sympathy card.

A Second Week of The Sweet :Life

We are beginning our second week of "The Sweet Life" challenge.  If you haven't entered yet, you still have time to create something as there are seven days left before the challene ends.  Don't forget, you can always go to the top of my sidebar and by clicking on the link you can go directly to the current challenge.
Vicki
To me it is The Sweet Life to have a sunny day.  Moth Fab from Stampotique is enjoying the day which only has one cloud partially covering the sun.  Ihe image was colored with Copic markers.  As added embellishment, I included a couple of strips of paper ribbon, some flowers and a butterfly.

Petra
What could be nicer than sitting with all your friends under a sun umbrella, a cloudless sky above you and the beach is yours! The base for this card is textured white card, the background for the stamped image (Stampotique) was created with the babywipe background technique. The little dictionary sentiment is also from Stampotique cut with a nestabilities label. The little heart is a tiny stamp from Elzybells which I coloured and glittered .... two of the little friends also dressed up with a little Stickles. Enjoy the sunshine!
Sharon
This week I've used the same 2 Stampotique images to make a "Sweet Life" card. I used inkpads to make the background & stamped a flower image at the bottom. "Moth" has been coloured with Copic Markers and latered on some co-ordinating torn Japanese paper and I added some flower braid to the bottom of the card. I love the darker colours of this card!
Michele
This sweet winged creature and the "angels can fly" quote stamp are both from Stampotique Originals. I used a Technique Junkies technique called "random coloring" for the central image. The rest of the elements on this tag are a variety of designer papers, pearls and a flower. It is a sweet idea to "take oneself lightly" and if you do it right you can fly! Hope you'll find time to join this challenge.
Valerie
Hi everybody, here is my card for week two of the *sweet Life* Challenge.  Have a good week.

 Jenn
Hi everyone-  I made this sweet bookmark/tag using Stampotique's images - I stamped my sentiment directly onto the DP and then fussy-cut out the girl with the umbrella.  Ribbon and buttons are from my stash.  Have a great week, everyone, and we look forward to seeing your creations!

Just Some Lines' Challenge

Just Some Lines is having a "Just Black and White" challenge and this is my inspiration for it.  I really like this little doggie image and he was so easy to work with for the challenge.  I have a stash of black and white paper and I used a sheet of it and the striped black and white is a digital which I printed.  The sentiment is by Stampin' Up.  As an added element I used two small buttons I had just pulled off a shirt before I threw it away.

Celebrate

Digi Darla is having a "Celebrate" challenge.  Drop in to their site to enter.  My inspirational piece is using a Bugaboo image on a tag.  The celebration is one of a Mexican festival,  I used a number of folk Mexican images and the flag around the main Bugaboo image.  The background on the tag is strips of alcohol ink giving the feel of Mexico.  Coloring was done with Copic markers.
